About

Trumanlakefishingintel.com is an offshoot of bassingbob.com, which exclusively covers Lake of the Ozarks. Tyler Mahoney, an avid hunter and angler in the Clinton and Warsaw areas since his early years, owns the website and works daily on writing, filming, editing, and posting all the content that appears on the site and social media pages.

Tyler attended Rockhurst University in Kansas city for his undergraduate and Master’s Degree. During his time there, Tyler received the Buck Rogers Memorial Scholarship from the Missouri Outdoor Communicators. This began his “side gig” career in outdoor writing and communication, as he has worked full time in medical sales since graduation. He has contributed to numerous outdoor papers and magazines in the Midwest, along with many online news outlets. He also owns and runs mahoneyoutdoors.com, lsareafishing.com, trumanlakeareafishing.com, Lee’s Summit Area Fishing Facebook Group, Northeast Kansas Area Fishing Facebook Group, Missouri Hunting and Fishing Facebook Group, Southwest Missouri Area Fishing Facebook Group, Johnson County KS Area Fishing Facebook Group, and more.

Beginning in 2018, Tyler took over the weekly outdoor column in the Kansas City Star, focusing primarily on producing the weekly fishing report. As things changed with the paper, he recognized there was a growing need for more expert fishing content tailored to specific lakes and approached Bassingbob.com in early 2020 to discuss bringing their concept of daily/weekly fishing reports to Truman Lake.

Soon, trumanlakefishingintel.com launched in August 2020. The website is a compilation of a couple hundred years of expertise from longtime lake guides like Jeff Faulkenberry, Richard Bowling, Cody Vannattan, Steve Blake, Dillon Stocking, Bob Bates, Jim Cuda, Jack Vanderpool, Hunter Bowling, David McCormick, David Ryan, Brad Jelinek, and Darin Lankford. Tyler speaks with each guide throughout the week to write as many up-to-date fishing reports as possible, oftentimes posting anywhere from 40-50 expert fishing reports per month.

The website offers visitors a variety of information and resources. For those looking for the ultra-detailed and frequently updated fishing reports and exclusive videos, premium memberships are available that cover all species or individual species. For the more casual angler, free memberships are available for things like tournament reports and the monthly expert round table dinner videos with the guides. And there is much more to explore that doesn’t require a membership at all!
