Man it’s been really fun the last week. It happened to line up where we had several groups with kids out on the boat and had an absolute ball getting them into the catfish. The first was a young man through the Hope Outdoors Project. He got to experience it all from helping to drive the boat, catching the fish, and learning how to clean them! Tuesday I had a trip with MMYO (Mid Missouri Youth in the Outdoors) out of California, MO. Wednesday a guy with his 2 young sons was down. Seeing the excitement on those kids’ faces makes it all worthwhile. As far as the fishing, here in the last week the fish have been a little deeper in 15-18 feet of water. We’ve been using Santee rigs with 4-5 foot leaders on fresh cut shad. Crappie has been up and down. Lake came up and is going back down now. Getting back into normal summer pattern stuff. A lot of fish out in the open on flats right now so spider riggers could have a lot of fun. 8-12 feet down is where you want to be. |
