Fishing Notes

Current lake level is 721 and water surface temp is 52 on the main lake and up in the backs of the major creeks I found 55.

Fishing on the lower lake has been really tough the past week. Water is very stained. Crappie have been very slow. You can find them but hard to get them to bite. In the upper arms of the lake it is a different story. Crappie bite they’re in the creeks one pole jigging at depths from 3 to 10 feet has been good. Cats have also been very strong on the upper lake also with cut shad in 5 to 10 feet of water.

I did manage to boat some nice largemouth fishing a 1/2 ounce char and white spinner bait in the backs of main lake pockets around flooded buck brush.

I would say with the large amount of water they are running thru the turbines and floodgates we should see some clearing of the water by this weekend. We also only have one cold night this week but temps will be back in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s by the weekend. That should move the fish into the creeks and pockets on the lower lake staging up for the spawn.

Well that’s about it for this week but conditions are going to improve rapidly as water temps rise this week. See at the lake!!!!!
