Fishing Notes

I didn’t know I had two trips on the book today. Thought I had a day of relaxation scheduled in but had to get right back to work.

When I left, the water was pretty clear and I’d been focusing on the channel ledges and moving into the main lake flats. First trip was with two guys and myself. Left the marina and took about 3 hours to get our 45 fish in the boat. Didn’t see nearly the fish I had been seeing in my go-to channel ledge spots. Water got a lot more dingy than when I saw it last in the upper end of the Grand.

Second trip I went closer to Bucksaw and got their first in about 2.5 hours. But still just didn’t see the numbers.

A lot of these were on the bottom. I think the water is done coming in hopefully. Mid to upper end of the Grand is dirty and the fish are very scattered. Was not as good as when I left it.

Sean was helping me with another trip today as well. They had their 45 by 1pm. Took them longer than what we have been seeing. Just a testament to the fishing be a little tougher.

I did try a jig today. The “closer” from Just Another Crappie Bait Company. Caught a lot of fish on it down at Eufaula this past week but when I got here today they didn’t seem to want the jig today. So every fish was caught on a minnow.

Takeaway today was the fish were pretty much on the bottom where those channel ledges drop off right into the main channel. 10-20 feet of water with fish sitting anywhere from 7-20 feet down. We caught only 3 that were just a few feet under the surface. Most everything was roaming as well. We probably didn’t catch 10 fish on a piece of structure today.
