Wow! It’s Hot and humid. It’s supposed to be! Middle of June in Missouri? I think we’ve been a little spoiled by the mild weather. I didn’t fish this weekend but I watched as a lot of people did. Matter of fact, we ate fresh caught crappie tonight. They were given to us by a nice couple that were fishing on the dock. I was on my way to install a new livescope (Seelite) mount on the boat when they asked if I’d like to have some fish. I ALMOST said no, but then reconsidered. What a treat. We did go out on the boat Saturday afternoon. My mom and Teresa have been making homemade soap and they setup a booth at Jubilee days. Did I say it was hot? God bless them, they stuck it out, sold a few bars. Let’s just say that I have a lifetime supply of soap. Good soap! The water was cold when Teresa and my grandson jumped in. Water temp fluctuated between 68-70 degrees, but it was refreshing. There’s some debris in the channel of the Osage but not much. I never put the livescope in the water but traditional sonar was showing fish between 10-20 ft down in 30 ft of water. If you fished before the water got high. The fish are still there. We’re just 10 ft higher above them. (Which makes a 1/32 oz jig seem forever to fall). I saw lots of boats fishing by the dam. White bass and Hybrids are blowing up the shad. I also watched as boats were fishing by the RV boat ramp at the state park. They must know something I don’t know. There must be a weir / rock ledge that’s holding fish? That’s about all I have other than it’s going to be HOT this week with little rain. Looks like summer is finally here! I do have some pics, a white deer and her mom. Baby geese. A deer and fawn together. Tomato plants that are growing inside wire designed to keep deer out. I share all of this because of the years I couldn’t be here. I would scour the internet searching for anything that gave me a slice of life at the lake. Those of us that are here take it for granted. Oh yeah, the Seelite pole, I have a 10% discount code if anyone is interested. KAE10 I get nothing, not advertising just passing along the savings.
