Fishing Notes |

Had a nice day on the Osage. Lots of ice still around but was able to find some fish. They preferred the 1/32 oz jig. Caught a couple on my usual 1/8th oz. grey and silver/blue but when I had 2 nice fish come up and look but not take it, I switched to the smaller jig and caught them both. I’m sure most of you know but if not I want to mention one small thing. Over half of these fish never “thumped” it. If they swam up to it and stopped I set the hook. Trust me some of them didn’t have it but most did. I think because of the small profile they just sucked it in without the hit. Just thought I’d throw that out there. I also watched 2 eagles pick them off a diving duck. I had never witnessed this before. The first one tried twice but they missed. He hovered over the spot after the 2nd miss and got one as soon as they came up. You never know what you might see in nature. |
