Steve Blake’s multi species fishing report on the lower lake

Monday, December 7, 2020

Check out the latest Steve Blake weekly fishing report covering crappie, bass, and catfish on Truman Lake!

Current water level is 705.93 and water surface temp is 49 degrees.

Well it is that magic time of the year again on Truman and the winter bite is on. The sweet thing about this is that just like the mid summer bite patterns, it will probably stay the same thru January. The crappie bite in the dam and Sterett Creek areas has been on fire. Lots of little fish, but lots of fish in the 10 to 13 inch size range too. As always best bite on the lower lake has been on the bare rock bluffs. We are fishing a pink 1/4 oz. Bob Bates winter jig head rigged with a Swarm jig. Best colors have been brown and orange, pink and char, and white and char. Parallel the bluffs dropping the jigs to the bottom in 18 to 22 feet of water come up one to two feet off the bottom and move as SLOWWWWW as possible into the wind so you can control boat speed.

Bass have been good on shad colored suspending jerkbaits on main lake points near the dam and in the lower Tebo arm. Twitch twitch pause has been the best rhythm.

Blue cats have been on fire this week on cut shad in 6 to 20 feet of water. Lots of eaters, slots, and overs have been the rule.

As I said these patterns should hold true until at least thru January now that the lake is getting back to normal pool. This time of year can be some of the most consistent fishing Truman has to offer. So pick your days and come on down and have some fun. See ya at beautiful Sterett Creek Marina!!!!!
