See Steve Blake's latest multi-species weekly update covering crappie, bass, white bass, and hybrids on Truman Lake!
Current lake level is 715.34 surface water temp 57 degrees.
Water is still high but they have caught it and lake as of now is slowly falling. Crappie have been a little slow on the lower lake while up the Grand and Osage bite has been fair to good. Fish on the upper lake areas have been in the center of the pockets 10 to 12 feet down. Both jigs and minnows are producing. On the lower end of the lake near the dam fish are in the gravel spawning pockets holding 16 to 19 feet deep right on the bottom. We are vertical jigging a 1/4 ounce Bob Bates pink jig head rigged with a Swarm Jig. Black and char has been the best color in the stained water. I feel we should see the crappie start to spawn in the nest week to 10 days.
Bass have been good in the flooded bushes with creature baits and spinner baits. Look for flooded bushes on secondary points for best results. Dark colored creature baits and char and white 1/2 ounce # 6 gold blade spinner baits are a good choice.
Catfish are shallow and on the bite with cut shad. 2 to 6 feet of water is best.
No whites or hybrids as yet but with the current as the lake level falls they should fire up soon. We just need the water clarity to improve.
We have several nights this week with lows in the high 30’s so we won’t see much improvement in water temps for a few days. Looks like best bet for warmer temps is around the 22 or 23 of the month. Fishing should fire up strong then.
Well that’s it for this week; see ya at Sterett Creek!!!!!!!
