Have you ever wondered how professional anglers read water? Have you ever thought, how did they learn to cast like that? Why do they always seem to figure out how to catch bass, no matter the water conditions? Wonder no more. As a former BASS and FLW touring angler with 30 years of tournament fishing experience, I am now offering a unique on the water, coaching session experience on Truman Lake.
The very first tournament of my career took place on Truman. I am fortunate to have gained bass fishing experience on every arm of Truman Lake and am one of a very select group of anglers to have won tournaments from every arm of Truman Lake!!
For this on the water experience, I will be focused on answering questions and working to strengthen all levels of anglers to help them get better, whether they are a tournament angler or a beginner who has just purchased their first boat. The service I will be providing is not in the “Guide” category. It is truly a coaching session to help the angler get better with their equipment and on the water performance.
Much like an amateur golfer hires a swing coach or a person hires a personal trainer to get in shape, I will be providing the coaching services to help you become a better angler. The best thing is ALL of this will be done in the customer’s boat. Yes, you read that correctly! I will be getting in the customer’s boat and helping them understand what they are seeing on their electronics, how to drop waypoints, what gear to use, how to find largemouth bass, and much more!
These sessions will be 5-6 hour sessions beginning at 7am and ending around noon to 1pm. This service is geared toward 1 on 1 personal coaching, but will extend this service for 1 additional person. (This is geared to the teams who fish buddy events on Truman Lake or a parent who would like to have their son or daughter in the boat for coaching purposes). An additional up charge will be included for a third person.
I will send a questionnaire prior to the coaching session, so I can create a personalized outline for each client’s day(s) on the water. My goal is to provide this service Monday through Friday. This will ensure the purest coaching platform. With the higher number of boats on the water during the weekend, this could prohibit some of the opportunity for “on the spot” question and answer sessions.
This will also be a great service for that parent who has a child interested in joining a high school fishing team looking to earn a fishing scholarship for college.
Points of interest to be focused on will be:
- Gear Selection (rods, reels, line, lures, etc.)
- Boat preparation
- Understanding electronics
- Waypoints, where and how to drop them
- Boat navigation of Truman Lake
- Building a strategic game plan / Tournament preparation (geared for tournament anglers)
- Understanding boat control and positioning. (How to fish an area / target)
- Understanding largemouth bass at Truman Lake
- Any other topics that are requested in the questionnaire
The cost is $450 per coaching session. The addition of the third person in the boat will be an additional $75 charge. I also am offering a package discount if you purchase three session. That rate is $1,000, saving you $200.
